Discrete Adjoint optimization of Compact Heat Exchangers

We present results of discrete adjoint design optimization simulations of compact heat exchangers in the open source software suite SU2. 2D and 3D simulations have been performed of different heat exchanger types and we investigate design changes for different types of objectives. For multi-objective optimization, the pressure drop and gas temperature is minimized and the Pareto front is constructed and we compare adjoint-optimized designs with classical results from the literature.
