Homogeneity Measurement of Sn-Mg Alloy Using Image Processing

Homogeneity ensures the metal powder has a consistent chemical composition throughout the entire batch. This consistency is essential for the end products with predictable and desired material properties and helps to achieve consistent part dimensions . In this work, homogeneity is analyzed based on colour shade distribution in EPMA image of Sn-Mg alloy using a framework that leverages Python computer vision libraries. The framework can segment the image into multiple regions of interest (ROI) and calculate quantitative information about the colour distribution based on additive colour mixing within each ROI.
