The purpose of this work was to explore the free-shape optimization capabilities of the open-source software SU2. The application was a test case with features of common industrial applications, namely internal, incompressible, and turbulent flow. Specifically, the test case was a U-bend, which was optimized for pressure drop. Furthermore, the results of this work can be compared to the results from the literature on which this work was based.
