Precise control of elastic waves is a challenge for many applications in the field of mechanical vibrations, ultrasonic inspection, and energy harvesting. Graded arrays of resonators on elastic substrates recently revealed superior performances for broadband wave reflection, trapping and mode conversion. In this study, we engineer the dispersion of elastic waveguides using graded resonators with breaking symmetries, relying on a physical phenomenon known in physics as mode locking. This allows to obtain unusual dispersion curves, such as the so called roton-like behavior, together with spatial signal separation of the energy fluxes with positive and negative group velocity.
